Custom Cabinets & Cabinet Installation
Cabinets are most of what you see and most of what you spend. They are also the only part of a kitchen that cannot be changed afterward without starting again, which is why they get decided last in the design and first in the order.
Stock, semi custom, or custom
Stock comes in fixed widths and fills a square room cheaply. Semi custom keeps a catalog box but opens up door styles, finishes and some sizing. Custom is built to your walls, which is what an older house with settled floors and odd ceiling heights usually needs.
We will tell you when stock would do the job. A cabinet that fits is worth more than a cabinet that was expensive.
- Shiloh, Eclipse and Fabuwood ranges, with samples brought to you
- Door style and finish chosen against your own kitchen light, not a showroom's
- Interior fittings specified: drawer boxes, pull outs, corner access
- Scribed and fitted to the walls you have, not the walls a catalog assumes
- Installed level, because the countertop template depends on it
What decides the price
Four things, in order: how many boxes, what the doors and finish are, what goes inside them, and whether your walls need the cabinetry made to fit. The interior fittings are the part people cut first and regret longest, because that is what you touch every day.
Look at a door in your hand
Finishes are photographed under lighting chosen to flatter them. A stain reads differently in a north facing kitchen than it does on a screen. We bring samples to the house and put them where the cabinets will go.
