Framed construction, and what the frame is for

Shiloh builds on a solid wood face frame across the front of the box. That frame is the reason this line can hang a door three different ways: over the frame, flush inside it, or set in with a bead running around it.

Inset is the look people photograph and then cannot find again, and it only exists on a framed cabinet. If you have saved a picture of a kitchen where the doors sit flush with the surrounding wood, you have saved a picture of a framed cabinet, and this is the line that builds it.

The trade is opening width. A face frame occupies room at the front of every box, so a drawer in a framed cabinet is narrower than the same drawer built without one. If what you are short of is storage rather than detail, say so at the first visit and we will put Eclipse in front of you instead.

What is inside the box

Solid wood doors on everything except the painted and Metropolitan ranges. Plywood sides with a matching hardwood veneer on the finished ends, plywood adjustable shelving, solid wood corner blocks in the base cabinets, and a solid wood hanging rail.

Drawer boxes are hardwood dovetail as standard, on Blum guides with soft close built in, and the hinges are Blum soft close as well.

The topcoat is a catalyzed conversion varnish. That is the part that decides how the kitchen looks after a few winters, because it is what stands between the finish and whatever gets sprayed near the sink.

How we specify it

We design the kitchen first, to your room, and then specify the cabinetry against that design. That order matters. Picking a cabinet line before the layout is settled is how people end up paying to work around a decision they made in a showroom.

Look at samples in person before you commit. Finishes are photographed under lighting chosen to flatter them, and a stain reads differently in your own kitchen than it does on a screen. We put the door in your hands and tell you where this range is the right answer and where another one is.
