Appliance Installation
Appliance dimensions decide cabinet openings, which is why appliances get chosen during the design and not at the end. A refrigerator that needs another inch means cabinetry modified after it was built.
What installation involves
Old units disconnected and taken away. New ones set, levelled and connected, with gas and electrical work done by licensed trades. Ventilation ducted properly rather than recirculated because the duct run was awkward.
Built in and integrated units are fitted to the cabinetry so the doors line up with everything else in the run.
- Refrigerators, ranges, cooktops, wall ovens, dishwashers and hoods
- Gas and electrical connections by licensed trades
- Range hood ducted to outside where the structure allows it
- Integrated units aligned to the cabinet run
- Old appliances removed and disposed of
Buy early, take delivery late
Choose the appliances while the kitchen is being designed so the openings are built around real measurements. Delivery can come later. What causes trouble is choosing after the cabinetry is ordered.
The hood is usually the problem
Ducting a hood to an outside wall is straightforward on one side of a house and awkward on the other. It is worth settling early, because the alternative is a recirculating filter that moves the smell around the room instead of out of it.
